Bonny Hills is a coastal village where the Council coastal-walk map (opens in a new tab) links Rainbow Beach, Spooneys Bay and nearby reserves. Use it as an orientation tool, noting the marked cautions and steep terrain before setting out.
At the heart of the foreshore, Rainbow Beach Reserve (opens in a new tab) is a Council-managed coastal public reserve. Check current signage and access information when you arrive, particularly after wet or rough weather.
Further along the coast, Spooneys Bay Reserve (opens in a new tab) connects Bartletts Beach and Rainbow Beach. Give the coastal environment room and follow local directions for access and any dog controls.
Conditions can change quickly. The NSW beach-safety guidance (opens in a new tab) recommends checking weather, alerts, current conditions and whether a beach is patrolled; the safest place to swim is between red and yellow flags at a patrolled beach.
